  • Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch membership is $30.00 per annum. This allows approved invited branch guest to see unlimited first-run movies for one calendar year.  You must renew your membership to continue.
  • Each approved branch member is allowed to bring one guest to the screening.  Any additional guests are subject to seat availability as determined by committee chairs.
  • Current and new members will receive invitation notices of screening provided the branch cinema committee.  In order to become an invited guest your branch membership address must include a personal email address.
  • It is the goal of the Beverly Hill/ Hollywood NAACP Cinema Committee to have a solid list of branch “ members only” invited to these privileged screenings.

Movie Announcements

  • Members are notified of screenings via email prior to each movie screening.
  • The notice time may vary depending on when the studio invites us.
  • Each member must provide a current email address or a friend’s email address who will expect movie notices.  The committee does not make telephone call announcements.
  • Each announcement is to be read fully.  You will be given the date, time and address for each screening.  You will be given a response cut-off time and the number of seats provided.  Instructions vary and must be adhered to for each screening.
  • No movie announcement is to be circulated to others unless it is specifically requested.  Please feel free to invite other potential members but you must RSVP for them.
  • Random or “ unknown “ names that are not members will not be approved or included on any list nor receive email response from the committee chairs.
  • The studios are not obligated to invite us to each and every screening they have.
  • Premier invitations are regarded as special events and will be handled on an individual basis and at the discretion of the Cinema Committee Chairs.

Attendance

  • To attend a screening you must be in good standing with the branch.  This means your membership dues are paid in full.  This also means you are in good standing with the cinema committee and have not caused problems at previous screenings or branch events.
  • The Cinema Committee Chairs and the studios reserve the right of refusal to screenings and your name will be removed from the email invite list with notice.
  • Some screenings require a RSVP via email to a designated Cinema Committee Chair.  If approved, you will receive a confirmation via email.
  • If you RSVP, you will be expected to attend that screening.
  • Members should arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the screening time and never after the film has started.
  • Each member is to check in with the appropriate representative handling the guest list.
  • You will be asked to join a line before admittance into the theater.  Your cooperation is imperative.
  • We are all subject to random security checks at the entrance of the theater.  NO CAMERAS OR RECORDING DEVICES ARE ALLOWED.
  • If you RSVP’d and cannot attend a screening, you must notify a committee chair prior to the screening.
  • If your guest’s name should change, you must notify a committee chair prior to screening. If this is completely unexpected, your guest must check-in by the name they are substituting.
  • If you are a “no show “ to a screening that you rsvp’d for and did not notify the designated committee chair prior, you will not be invited to the next two free screenings.  Records will be kept.
  • Should there be a repeated pattern of “ no show “ or chronic lateness, the committee chair will then decide whether to continue to include this person on their invite list.

Behavior

  • Your behavior at the screenings represents the branch as a whole.  We ask that everyone be courteous, polite and professional at all times.
  • Please try arriving with your guest to avoid confusion at the door. You may hold a seat inside.
  • Should free concessions be offered, please follow instructions,
  • Please honor any handicapped. Reserved or roped seating signage.
  • The Beverly Hills/Hollywood branch is a guest of the studios, do not complain or argue with the studios representatives. (Bring any issues to cinema chairs)
  • Please encourage your guest to join and become active in the branch.
  • Please seek the designated committee chair with any questions or concerns.
  • When available, validation will be provided.
  • Please leave the premises after the screening ends.

Obligation

  • The NAACP is a non-profit organization.  Your membership and participation is important to us.  Free movie screenings are an added perk.
  • We ask each member attending the free movie screening to attend at least one Saturday branch meeting per quarter records will be kept.
  • The branch meetings are held the last Saturday of each month at the Tom Bradley Youth and Family Community Center located at 5213 W Pico Blvd.   Los Angeles near La Brea.  The general meeting begins at 1:00 pm and last no longer than two hours.
  • Each of us can help in some way.  Your volunteer-ism is greatly needed.  Please ask.
